Refugeeswork.at shows us how integration can work

In 2015 around 90,000 refugees sought asylum in Austria alone. A critical step towards integration is employment–a belief held by/a notion backed by the start-up refugeeswork.at.

Refugeeswork.at is Austria’s first online job platform for refugees. The platform brings together refugees and businesses and simplifies the entire recruiting and onboarding process for both parties.

Employers

Employers profit from an array of support services. This includes “smart matching” and suggested best candidates, guidance concerning legal status, bureaucracy and available grants, as well as assistance with communication and scheduling with potential candidates. The benefits of refugeeswork.at do not end after a successful hire, either. The start-up assists employers with workplace integration, such as onboarding and workshop opportunities, in order to secure the best possible start for businesses and refugees.

Refugees

With professionalism and dedication, refugeeswork.at prepares candidates for job interviews. They also benefit from software-supported assistance for creating the perfect resume, automated application management, free and multi-lingual coaching, an eLearning area and much more.

At the end of 2016, 6 months after the launch of the beta version, more than 5,000 refugees and 275 business, NGOs and universities from a variety of branches are already registered on the plattform. Thousands of application materials have received feedback and hundreds of refugees have received coaching and found employment based on their backgrounds, from kitchen assistants to doctors.

In 2017, refugeeswork.at, in cooperation with Stanford University, plans to launch an App for the first worldwide digital assistance program for job-seekers.

An opening up of the platform to immigrants is also envisaged, as well as international expansion that enables organizations at the European level to access the platform.
